David Holyoake is an award-winning composer of new classical music and soundtracks, a pianist, and an experienced and sensitive teacher of piano and music theory.
Before leaving his native Australia David was selected for representation as an Associate Artist of the Australian Music Centre, which continues to distribute his contemporary classical music scores to musicians around the world. He is published by Reed Music and as a composer has received multiple commissions to compose for theatre, contemporary dance, and for the concert hall. He has received public grant awards from the Arts Council of England, and the Belgian Ministry of Culture.
As pianist, David won several regional piano performance competitions and scholarships in Australia before completing his Bachelor of Creative Arts from the University of Melbourne, as well completing all levels of piano performance and music theory certifications with Honours from the Australian Music Examinations Board.
As teacher, David is passionate, patient, and committed to transmitting the multiple benefits for mental health, creativity and self-awareness that come from learning an instrument. He has over 10 years teaching experience and strong track record of success. Specialising in adults, from complete beginners through to advanced, David draws from a number of proven pedagogical methods as well as bringing his own insight as composer. This means students quickly start to understand classical music as a deep language, begin playing musically satisfying pieces from the first lessons, and develop a powerful and sensitive piano technique.
